Not a birthday with a 'zero' on the end but worth celebrating nevertheless.

Excellent meal washed down with champagne.

My daughter Nicola has just bought her first car.

Having recently started her first job as a fully qualified nurse, Nicola has been able to buy her first car - a Suzuki Swift.


I assume she went for Black because it's extra hot in the summer.

6 weeks to the Annapurna trip.

Therefore the beard is slowly creeping back.

Australia's Longest Road Tunnel

This afternoon I drove through the newly opened 4.8 km 'Clem Jones Tunnel' - the 'Clem7'.

It runs north-south under the city and river from Bowen Hills near the Royal Brisbane Hospital, to south of 'the Gabba' near the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Can't say it will be used much by me as I rarely go onto the southside but it should get some trucks out of the city.

Within the next year or two the 'Airport Link Tunnel' will be opened and that's going to be 6.7 km!

Madeleine's 20th Birthday

Madeleine's birthday today.

Last night we went to celebrate at French restaurant 'Belle Époque'.

Excellent meal with champagne and escargots

Managed to slash the grass at Maleny in between 'showers'.

They've had 390 mm. - 15 inches - of rain in the last week!
