Sat. 5th May. KATHMANDU.

A short flight from Lhasa to Kathmandu but all the mountains covered in very thick cloud.

In Kathmandu we had lunch at the Northfield Cafe - having browsed Pilgrim's Bookshop for an hour or so.

That evening, back to Sam's Bar for the customary excess of cocktails.

Then, back to Australia!

Tibet 2012. Mon. 9th April. Kathmandu

To Shona's store in Thamel to buy crampons and an ice-axe - both 'Black Diamond'.

Accompanied by one of our sherpa guides, Mingma. He is 22 and has been to the top of Everest twice.

In the evening, to Sam's Bar. One of my favourite places!

Tibet 2012. Sun.8th April. Kathmandu

Arrived Kathmandu and to the Manaslu Hotel.

Met up with Lee and his son Nick who I would be travelling with for the next month.

To New Orleans restaurant in Thamel in the evening

4th Nov. Back to Kathmandu.

18th Oct. False Alarm

Exciting day - off to the airport for the flight to Paro in Bhutan.

Flight delayed but left in the afternoon. Good view of the mountains - this being Everest.

Suddenly flight turned around. It was getting too dark to land in Bhutan. Druk Airlines put us up for the night at the Hotel Annapurna back in Kathmandu - with a 4.30 am start to follow!

To KATHMANDU. 16th & 17th Oct.

To Kathmandu to start the trip to BHUTAN with the Boningtons.

Stayed at the fabulous Dwarika's Hotel - http://www.dwarikas.com/ - but into Thamel to have lunch with Sir Chris, Joe and Ratchna - Pertemba's grand-daughter.

Fellow trekkers arrived during the day hence the after dinner trip to Sam's Bar in Thamel with the Bennets. Here - Robert, Kevin, Joe & me - on the tequila at this stage.
