WE leave Nyalam and continue our drive, without diverting to Milarepa's Cave, up to the Tong La at 5,150 m.
Here there were incredible views back to the mountains of the Himalayas. To the west was this stunning view of Shishapangma, 14th highest mountain in the world.
Almost all the mountains we could see were over 7,000 m.
Most didn't even have names.
Then, as we entered Tingri, our first view of Everest - still about 70 km. away.
